Alexandria Archive Institute

The Alexandria Archive Institute (AAI) is a non-profit entity supporting research and development to enhance scholarly communications and instruction through innovative use of the Web. We do this through Web-based publication, with a focus on primary data—information that rarely sees dissemination.

This collection is the indices of the Tubinger Atlas des Vorderen Orients (TAVO), an authoritative atlas of Middle East places (published in 1994). AAI is interested in using the TAVO to expand coverage of Pleiades, an open-access gazetteer of ancient places. The project is funded by NEH to add places relevant to the study of the ancient Near East to Pleiades.
